Barrington's next Superintendent of Schools will earn $265,000 annually, according to details of the contract.
Late last week, the Barrington School Committee announced it had hired Robert Wargo as Barrington’s next superintendent.
Wargo, who has served as superintendent of Weymouth (Mass.) Public Schools since 2021, will replace longtime Barrington School Superintendent Michael Messore, who will retire at the end of the school year.
Barrington conducted a national search for its next superintendent. The Barrington School Committee hired the firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to guide the comprehensive search, which drew applicants from across the country, including many sitting superintendents.
The search process eventually led to Wargo, who was hired as superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools in March 2021.
The Barrington School Committee and Wargo agreed on a three-year contract (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027). Wargo will be paid a salary of $265,000 a year. He will also receive an automobile allowance of $300 per month.
The School Committee plans to formally announce Wargo as the official incoming Superintendent of Barrington Public Schools at its meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m.
